Participants in the Certification Weekend in June are encouraged to:
- find a roommate (or two)
- determine which motel/resort/campground to stay at in Tobermory
- consider carpooling with your roommate
Here are some examples that we have heard about from past participants. These are meant only as helpful ideas, and not endorsements from Blue North Scuba Club. There are many motels, resorts, cottages, cabins, camping examples in the area. Please check on the internet and make a choice that is best for you.
Phone ahead to check prices and availability. Book in advance.
Your Instructors may have a recommendation
Check with your instructors. They may have a recommendation for where the group may be staying this year (e.g,. last year it was Big Tub Harbour Resort) .
Check the internet for other hotels, motels, cottages, cabins, rentals, camping, etc.
Here are other accommodations we have used in the past:
Coach House Inn
Blue North is holding a block of rooms at a reasonable price ($206.23) for you on Friday and Saturday nights as a Blue North Scuba Club member with a roommate. Each roommate pays $206.23 for the weekend. You must have a roommate to get this price.
It’s a 10-minute drive to Lighthouse Point on Saturday, and a 5-minute drive to town, dive shop and the dock (parking fee is involved in town).
Cancel up to 7 days in advance.
Note: If you would like to use this offer, please phone to make your own arrangements (rather than booking through a travel website) to secure this price.
Another option: You can ask to book a room with 3 double beds for 3 people to share a room. If interested, ask when you phone.

1-519-596-2361 – Be sure to say you are with Blue North if you are booking at Coach House to get this rate. You must have a roommate to get the rate of $206.23 each. Otherwise you pay for the whole room yourself which is $412.45
Room Fee:

To get to Lighthouse Point on Saturday, check with Blue North to join their shuttle from motel to Lighthouse Point. The parking at Lighthouse Point is awkward this year. We are trying to arrange a shuttle for you.
Big Tub Harbour Resort
This motel is more expensive. However, you can walk to Lighthouse Point on Saturday to eliminate parking. To get to town, you must drive and pay for parking for restaurants, dive shop, shops, and the dock. There is a chance that you could park at their sister-motel, Bruce Anchor (near town), for free — if space is available, and if you get approval from them in advance and if you notify them before walking away so that you don’t get towed, and put a sign on your dashboard that you are a guest at Big Tub Harbour Resort.
5 min drive, 42 min brisk walk to town, restaurants, dive shop and dock.
Book online, or phone to give your credit card at the time of booking to pay for the first night as a deposit to hold the reservation. There’s a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Bruce Anchor Motel
This motel is close to town, a block away from shops, restaurants, dive shop and dock. This motel has more rooms than Big Tub Harbour Resort. You must make arrangements to shuttle with Blue North to Lighthouse Point on Saturday (parking there is awkward). The good news is that you can walk one block to town for shopping, dive shop, dock and restaurants (i.e., you have free parking at your motel).
