If you are a certified diver, and are interested, read on!

Dive description:
This weekend is originally for the NAUI Advanced Open Water Course. However, if you are not on the course and wish to dive, we have arranged a separate divemaster for the club dives at the same locations.
Saturday: Wiarton shore dive – scroll down to see the interesting underwater details.
Sunday: Tobermory shipwrecks – here’s a sample. The specific shipwreck depends on weather conditions of the day, divers experience level, etc.
Course Fee: tbd (basically paying your share of the Sunday dive boat)
Fathom Five Diver Registration: To dive in Tobermory at Fathom Five Park, you must register, $5.50 per day from the Fathom Five Visitor Centre, or $20 annual pass at the dive shop.
Here’s the Fathom Five Diver Registration form to print, fill-in, sign and bring with you.
If you already have a 2025 annual pass, just wear your Fathom Five Tag on your scuba gear.
Scuba gear: Bring all your own equipment (owned or rented) including two tanks for Wiarton.
Tank fills: available in Tobermory at the dive shop, Adventure Tobermory. https://adventuretobermory.com/
Accommodation: Suggestions from the divemaster will be coming later.
Transportation: Check the divers WhatsApp set up by Martin.
For drivers: to offer carpooling in your vehicle.
For those needing a ride: to see who is offering carpooling and to share the cost.

Blue North’s requirements to participate in the dive

These steps must be completed annually.

  1. Complete the Blue North membership process to join Blue North Scuba Club if you have not done so already. (Note: The newly certified divers from Tobermory in June and the Costa Rica adventurers from April are already members!)
  2. Sign the annual OUC Release if you have not done so already. Be sure to pick both HHUC and Blue North Scuba Club as your clubs.

What’s below the surface at Wiarton? You will be amazed!

  • Entry: The entry is gradual with a rocky-sandy slope. There’s a grassy area along the beach, great for suiting up and picnicking.
  • Depth: Maximum depth for this Blue North dive will be 60 ft. The majority of the attractions underwater are at the 35 to 60 ft range. The descent is quite gradual, so Cedar Hill can accommodate many levels of dive experience. (Note: Skip the Eiffel Tower, Rocket Ship and Santa if you want to stay above 50 ft.)
  • Water temperature: The water is fairly warm during the summer months – reaching approx. 15°C above the thermocline near shore. 7mm wetsuit diving should be comfortable.
  • Visibility: Cedar Hill is part of Georgian Bay which tends to have decent visibility even during summer months.
  • Fish: Some say you may see typical Canadian freshwater fish species like trout, perch, bass and lake whitefish if they don’t get scared away by all the underwater sightseers.
  • Underwater attractions: At Cedar Hill Park, you can visit quite a lot of different underwater features within a relatively small area – the dome, windmill, rocket, Eifel tower, little shipwreck, cemetery, skeleton, snowmobile, newspaper stand, computer, bicycle, and other goofy things added by divers for your entertainment. Who knows what new items you’ll find this year! This site is fun and ideal for divers of all levels.  A great place to spend a day and practice your underwater navigation.
  • Picnic: Hang around for more diving, socializing, swimming, sunbathing, bring your own picnic lunch (no food shopping on site).
  • Parking: Cedar Hill has free parking on a lane next to a canopy of trees, steps from the shore.
  • Washrooms: There are washrooms next to the lane.
  • A favourite shore dive site in terms of water visibility, access to the water, parking, picnic shore area and underwater features to explore.
