Accommodation ideas for Tobermory

Participants in the Certification Weekend in June are encouraged to:

  1. find a roommate (or two)
  2. determine which motel/resort/campground to stay at in Tobermory
  3. consider carpooling with your roommate

Here are some examples that we have heard about from past participants. These are meant only as helpful ideas, and not endorsements from Blue North Scuba Club. There are many motels, resorts, cottages, cabins, camping examples in the area. Please check on the internet and make a choice that is best for you.

Phone ahead to check prices and availability. Book in advance.

For example,

Coach House Inn – 10-minute drive to Lighthouse Point on Saturday, and a 5-minute drive to town, dive shop and the dock (parking fee is involved in town and at Lighthouse Point).
Cancel up to 7 days in advance. Blue North is investigating if we can hold a block of rooms for the club.
Note: You can book a room with 3 double beds for 3 people to share a room to lower the cost of the room fee.

Bruce Anchor Motel – closer to town, shops, restaurants, dive shop and dock, more rooms, drive to Lighthouse Point on Saturday (parking fee is involved), walk to town for shopping, dive shop, dock and restaurants (free parking at your motel).
Book online, or phone to give your credit card at the time of booking to pay for the first night as a deposit to hold the reservation. There’s a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Big Tub Harbour Resort – walk to Lighthouse Point on Saturday (save money on Saturday parking). Drive to town for restaurants and the dive shop each day, and the dock on Sunday (parking fee is involved for shopping in town, restaurants, dive shop and dock).
6 min drive, 42 min walk to restaurants, dive shop and dock.

    The “Premium” cabin has a double bed and a bunk bed (2 singles), bathroom, shower, kitchenette, microwave, bar fridge.
