NAUI Rescue Diver Course

Number of dives in the course: 2.
Level of Experience: This course is for divers with 10 or more dives.
Prerequisites: First Aid, CPR and O2 provider certifications.

Course Description

This NAUI continuing education course trains divers in the knowledge and skills needed to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies. The course meets the prerequisite rescue training for NAUI Skin Diving Instructor, NAUI Assistant Instructor, NAUI Divemaster and NAUI Instructor certifications. The course will include the following:

  • assists,
  • transports,
  • surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat- and shore-based skin and scuba divers.

Blue North’s minimum requirements

  • Age requirement: 18 years of age (or discuss with DM if younger).
  • Certification requirement: Open Water Scuba Diver or above, certified by a recognized agency. 
  • Membership Requirement, Part 1: Divers have filled in the annual BN Scuba Profile & Waiver. Update your Scuba Profile by re-submitting at any time with your changes.
  • Membership Requirement, Part 2: Divers have paid annual fees: (a) Blue North Scuba Club membership fee $20. (b) Ontario Underwater Council (OUC) membership fee $50.  
  • Membership Requirement, Part 3: Divers will abide by the Blue North dive policies
  • Club dive fee: Pay $15 shore dive fee by eTransfer to bluenorthscuba@gmail.com
  • OUC Release (annual) has been signed and valid at least 24 hr. before the event, with Blue North listed as one of your clubs.

Plan your trip

Divers are expected to bring everything they need for diving, including:
– water
– sunscreen, hat
– all your own dive gear
– two tanks
– food

Scuba Gear:
– Bring all your own scuba gear. Your Instructor will let you know if you need two tanks or additional specialized gear.
– Bring a “double 7 mm” wetsuit with hood, gloves and boots.
– Sample list of scuba gear to bring on the dive trip

Transportation:
Need a Ride / Give a Ride: Use the Course whatsapp to determine ride shares.
If you are driving, please offer a ride to your fellow divers.

Accommodation:
For this location, some people make it a one-day trip. Others stay overnight, either Friday or Saturday, or both. Use the Course Whatsapp to see what others are planning, to arrange rides, and to find a roommate.
You are responsible for booking your own accommodation. Check the internet for motels, cottages, B&B, camping, etc. to find something that’s right for you. Your Instructor may have a suggestion.
